FAMILIES TO JOURNEY BACK TO PREHISTORIC TIMES ON “EXPEDITION MCKEE”
February 27, 2010

Jeff Goldblum did it in Jurassic Park. Brendan Fraser did it in Journey to the Center of the Earth. Most recently, Will Ferrell did it in Land of the Lost. Now, Treasure Coast residents will have the opportunity to journey back to prehistoric times during McKee Botanical Garden’s “Expedition McKee” on Feb. 27 from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. The family-friendly event is $50 per adult and $25 per child under 18 .
“This is the first time we’ve made our annual fundraiser a family event, and we couldn’t be more excited,” said Executive Director Christine Hobart. “Our dinosaur exhibit is a great way to bring together kids, parents, grandparents and friends, and we’re looking forward to sharing that magic with our visitors.”
Highlights of Expedition McKee will include an outdoor movie experience, the chance to make a shark tooth necklace, dinosaur face painting and temporary tattoos, “Return of the Dinosaur Invasion” lit for nighttime viewing and other family centric activities.
Attendees also will enjoy excavating through a Dino Boneyard Buffet - featuring Volcanic Extinction Coconut Shrimp, T. rex Teriyaki Beef Skewers, Mesozoic Macaroni and Cheese and other thematic fare - and experiencing the Ice Age through showy and delicious “Pure Magic Ice Cream,” made on the spot using liquid nitrogen.
Space is limited, and interested parties are encouraged to reserve tickets early by calling 772-794-0601.
Expedition McKee is sponsored by the George E. Warren Corporation; Northern Trust, NA; and the “AT&T Real Yellow Pages.”
