PHOTO CONTEST, REPOTTING DEMONSTRATIONS AND AQUATIC PLANT SALE AMONG ACTIVITIES AT MCKEE'S JUNE 21 WATERLILY CELEBRATION
On June 21, McKee Botanical Garden will host its tenth annual Waterlily Celebration with a number of activities themed around these aquatic beauties.
Nearly three quarters of the Garden's waterways will be populated with over 100 varieties of waterlily plants - approximately 300 in total - blooming in a kaleidoscope of colors. Gates will open early at 8:30 am, allowing visitors to take an early morning self-guided stroll through the Garden to view night blooming specimens before they retreat.
Additional activities scheduled throughout the event include:
8:30 am - 2:00 pm Waterlily photo contest viewing
"People's Choice" award voting will end at 12:00 pm
9:00 & 10:30 am Waterlily planting and repotting demonstration
9:00 - 2:00 pm Aquatic plant sale - plus vintage garden furniture and accents
Photos will be displayed for viewing in the Hall of Giants, and visitors attending the event will be able to cast their vote for the “People’s Choice” award from 9 am to noon. A first, second and third place winner and two honorable mentions will be chosen in each of the three style categories for both the Adult and Youth age groups. Prizes range from a pair of guest passes to an annual family membership to McKee. Honorable mention winners will get to have their photos featured on the McKee website and Facebook page along with the other winners.
In addition, plant experts will be onsite to answer questions and refreshments such as coffee, lemonade, snowballs, chicken sandwiches, and snacks will be available for purchase from Sunside Fun.
The event will conclude at 2:00 pm. Summer admission rates apply.
