SEWARD JOHNSON SCULPTURE EXHIBITION
January 3 - April 27, 2014
“I use my art to convince you of something that isn’t real. You laugh at yourself because you were taken in, and in that change of your perception, you become vulnerable to the piece and intimate with it in a certain way.”
- Seward Johnson
The Seward Johnson Sculpture Exhibition will showcase the work of acclaimed American artist, Seward Johnson. Johnson is best known for his life-size bronze sculptures depicting ordinary people engaged in everyday activities. More than 450 of Johnson’s sculptures have appeared in prominent locations all over the world including New York City’s Rockefeller Center; Pacific Place, Hong Kong; Les Halles in Paris and Via Condotti in Rome as well as in private collections and museums in the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia.
The Seward Johnson Sculpture Exhibition at McKee commemorates the first appearance of the artist’s work in Vero Beach in over 30 years, and will feature twenty sculptures representing two of Johnson’s distinctly different collections: Celebrating the Familiar and the Impressionist-inspired Beyond the Frame. Each sculpture reflects the realism and meticulous attention to detail that are the hallmark of Johnson’s creations. Don’t miss this exciting exhibit!
